Acupuncture
Image This is one of the oldest forms of therapy, dating back as far as 2000 years ago in China. Very fine needles are inserted into special points along energy pathways to unblock, rebalance and tonify the body’s Qi. We have a gentle technique which means patients keep coming back! We use single use disposable sterile needles, so there is no risk of infection.  Point Specifics also uses Laser Acupuncture.

Chinese Herbal medicine
Image Another effective form of natural medicine which works adjunctly with acupuncture to hasten one’s rate of improvement. We use granulated and powdered herbs that have been researched and tested for safety and efficiency. They are pre-boiled and freeze dried which is cost effective and saves you time!  Using granules and powders instead of raw herbs means that one can take their medicine quickly and easily, without having to boil a big bag of twigs and leaves. Teja and Jacinda also offer herbal capsules and pills, along with specialised formulae for children.

Tai Qi & Qi Gong
Tai QiBoth of these Oriental forms of movement are designed to cultivate one’s internal energies, gently stretch and mobilise the body, and both are a great form of exercise. Tai Qi is an ‘internal’ marital art, meaning all the movements, while slow and controlled, are based on self-defence. Qi Gong is more stationary than Tai Qi, and its movements open up and stretch out all the channels of energy in the body. Breathing is an important part of learning these artforms. They are a great form of stress-relief and relaxation. Teja runs private or small group (up to 5 people) Tai Qi and Qi Gong classes, for more information please contact us.

Tui Na
Tui NaThis is a special form of Chinese massage that uses acupressure points and meridian pathways to relieve stagnation and move deep blockages within the system.

Cupping
ImageChinese medicine also uses the method of ‘cupping’ to combat disease. Effectively a massage in reverse, cupping pulls the muscle fibers upward (as opposed to pushing down during massage) and frees stagnant blood in the muscles. This therapy gives a great feeling of relief from muscular tension, especially in the upper back. There can be some bruising afterwards, but this is a good sign and will disappear after a few days.

Pædiatric Acupuncture
ImageJacinda Jaensch is a pædiatric specialist (along with obstetrics). Pædiatric acupuncture is very different to adult acupuncture as tiny needles are used, and the techniques are over quickly. Children respond to acupuncture and herbs rapidly, as their young systems are so responsive. Please read more about this on her pædiatrics page, or contact us for more information.

Ear Candling
ImageSpecially designed hollow candles are used in each ear to clear wax, remove blockages and assist in middle ear infections. Also great for kids.

Gua Sha
Gua ShaSimilar in a way to massage, Gua Sha therapy involves the use of a Chinese soup spoon, which is rubbed with massage oil over various muscles and energy pathways, revealing areas of stagnation.

Dietary Advice
RiceChinese diet therapy involves a balance of flavours and natures of foods. It is very important to support the digestive system with warm and nourishing foods, and not to over-indulge in fatty, sweet or cold (raw) substances. We discuss your current diet and possible changes you could make to ensure a quick recovery from your condition.

Moxibustion
ImageThis is essentially the use of warmth and heat to heal the body. Moxibustion uses the herb Mugwort, to activate and energise certain points on the body. It is strongly tonifying and warming, activating blood flow and stimulating the body’s ‘Yang Qi’.
